100% American-made Delaware State Flags
On December 07, 1787, Delaware became the first of the 13 original states in the Union to ratify the United States Constitution. Delaware is also known as the "Diamond State", as according to legend, Thomas Jefferson compared the state to a diamond—although it may be small, it is still very valuable. On May 23, 2002, the official state nickname was changed to the “First State” after a request by Mt. Pleasant Elementary School’s First Grade Class, taught by Mrs. Anabelle O'Malley.
One hundred and twenty-six years after becoming the first state of our nation, the Delaware State Flag was adopted on July 24, 1913. Delaware’s State Flag contains a buff colored diamond on a colonial blue background. Within the diamond, is the coat of arms of the state. Below are the words "December 7, 1787," indicating the day Delaware became the first of the United States.
