100% American-made New Jersey State Flags
On December 18, 1787, New Jersey became the third of the thirteen original states in the Union to ratify the United States Constitution.
Although New Jersey is one of the smallest states in land mass, it is highly urbanized and boasts one of the highest population densities in the nation. New Jersey is also home to one of the busiest transit systems in the world, as hundreds and thousands of commuters travel daily to New York, Pennsylvania, and across the state. The George Washington Bridge, which connects New Jersey and New York across the Hudson River carries over one-hundred-million vehicles per year, making it the most travelled bridge in the world.
Despite New Jersey being heavily populated and urbanized, it has earned its nickname as the “Garden State” as it is one of the highest producers of cranberries, blueberries, peaches, bell peppers, and lettuce in the country.
The New Jersey State Flag was originally designed in 1777 by Pierre Eugene du Simitiere. The New Jersey State Coat of Arms sits in the center of the State Flag on a buff background. In 1965, a State law was passed to define the specific shades of blue and buff to be used on the flag.
