100% American-made Oregon State flags
Sharing a Valentine’s Day birthday with Arizona, on February 14, 1859, Oregon became the 33rd State of the Union. Oregon is one of only three contiguous United States to have a coastline on the Pacific Ocean, and while it is the ninth largest state, it is the 27th most populous.
The combination of coastline, large bodies of water, high-desert, dense forests, and semi-arid shrublands makes Oregon one of the most geographically-diverse states. While Salem is the capitol of Oregon, Portland is the most densely populated city, ranking 26th in the nation for population; the Portland Metropolitan area ranks 23rd in Major Metropolitan Area population.
The State Flag of Oregon is one of a few double-sided flags, where unlike most state flags, Oregon’s State Flag contains a different image on either side of the flag. The original flag was sewn by Marjorie Kennedy and Blanche Cox in 1925. It was donated to Eastern Oregon University in 1954 and restored in 2010. On one side, the flag depicts the State Seal of Oregon in gold on a blue Color field. The reverse side depicts a beaver, also in gold, which is the state animal and the reason that Oregon is nicknamed “the Beaver State”.
