Collection: Wyoming
100% American-made Wyoming state flags
En route to becoming the 44th state in the Union, Wyoming’s territory changed hands several times. Crow, Arapaho, Lakota, and Shoshone tribes were among the original inhabitants before the Spanish Empire and Mexico each laid their subsequent claims. The Territory of Wyoming was ceded to the United States following the Mexican-American War in 1848. On July 10, 1890.
Home to Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming ranks fifth among states who’s land is owned by the United States Government — nearly 50% is federal land that includes the two national parks, two national monuments, and several national forests, historic sites, and wildlife refuges. Yellowstone National Park was the first designated national park in the world, and Devil’s Tower National Monument was the first designated national monument in the United States.
The Equality State was also the first state to grant suffrage to women and to include women in an array of political posts. The official state motto is “Equal Rights.”
