Tulsa’s new flag was designed by Jordan Winn and became official October 5, 2018. The bold graphics join symbols of the City’s history and future into the new flag. Blue symbolizes the Arkansas River, yellow for oil discovered in 1901, shield signifying Native American tribes, red in honor of lives lost in the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot, a star to signify Tulsa’s bright future and beige for warmth and community.
